Hello,
I was just reading an article posted on the front page of Search Engine Land that said Google does not use that portion of your domain name for rankings.
Well that does kind of make sense as many people have started using the new domain names to try and game the system. What is really important is the content of the site anyway. If people think that getting a domain that ends in .Attorney or .Guru is really going to boost their rankings, that probably won’t work.
I mean if you are an attorney, then sure it may make sense to use .Attorney as part of your domain name. It does make it easier for people to get the basic idea this person is an attorney or a law firm etc.
The real important part is the content though. If you have great content that tells the reader every aspect of who you are, where you are and what you do, that is what will get people to read your website content. I keep telling people to spend more time on the content, and forget the gimmicks.
Here is a link to the article if you would like to read it. http://searchengineland.com/google-says-keywords-tld-part-url-ignored-ranking-purposes-251971
